Pear Mountain is an activity that shows students how contour lines & cross sections represent landforms and their unique shapes. This hands-on activity is great for secondary students of all ages learning about landforms and representing them on a map!
Included in this package is:
* a step-by-step PowerPoint explaining the process of creating a cross section
* Pear mountain activity sheets for students to complete their own contour map and cross section of their unique 'pear mountain'
* practice simple contour maps and cross sections
To complete this activity you will need:
* a pear per small group of students
* round takeaway containers (that fit a pear)
* a knife to cut the base off each pear
* a sharpie & ruler per group
